General Questions - Troubleshooting and Maintenance
My Garden Lighting Is Dim Or Not Lighting Up Anymore, What Happened?
Your lighting needs to be in a sunny place. Make sure there are no hanging trees, or shrubs (sometimes nearby houses with over hanging roofs) are covering your Solar Lighting during the day. Your light needs 6-8 hours minimum of sunlight to work effectively. A cloudy, or semi-cloudy day will hinder the charging of the solar panel. Please wait a few days to let the panel recharge and discharge.
If you are still experiencing problems with your lighting - you might need to consider changing your batteries. You may want to do a test using a working light's battery (if you have some that work and some that don't), and placing it into the one in question. If the lighting works, then you will need new batteries. If your lighting does not work, your panel may be experiencing problems.
Please call or email our warranty team - if you are still eligible - and have your proof of purchase ready for more instructions.

What Is The Best Way to Install the Ground Stake For the Garden Pathway Lighting?
Installing the ground stake can be tricky. It is advised that you install the ground stake into the ground before fully assembling the light. Pushing the Pathway Lighting down on the ground stake and into the ground may result in breakage. This will not be covered under our warranty - as it is due to product misuse.

Where Do I Get Batteries?
Your solar lighting needs Ni-Cad rechargeable batteries in either AA/ or AAA format. These batteries can be purchased at major retrail and hardware stores. Be sure to recycle the used batteries in the proper facilities. You may use other brands of batteries not specific to our brands.

What is The Difference Between Solar Lighting and Low Voltage Lighting?
Low voltage lighting will appear to be brighter than Solar Lighting, this is due to the fact that is it connected to the power grid. Solar lighting is dependent on the charging of the battery during the day. The benefits to solar lighting is that it is a low cost and environmentally friendly lighting source. It does not use electricity from the power grid, and is very efficient and easy to use.

How Do I Maintain My Solar Lighting?
Your solar lighting requires some maintenance to extend the life and beauty of the product.
1. Be sure to clean the solar panel top from debris or dust.
2. Avoid getting scratches on the solar panel to maintain the panel's maximum efficiency in charging the battery.
3. Take care in making sure that the solar lighting receives the maximum amount of sunlight during the day.

How do I Store My Lighting For the Winter or In Severe Weather?
During the winter months, you may store your Solar units away for safe keeping. Take your lighting carefully from your installed areas, and pack them carefully away in its original boxing, or in another box suitable in size. This also applies to severe weather conditions such as heavy rains - that may cause flooding, or severe winds.
Your battery in the solar unit may wear off during this time, and it is recommended that you carefully extract or take out the battery and store it in a safe place (with the solar unit). If you choose not to take out the battery, it is also acceptable. However, keep in mind that the battery may lose its charge during this period, and may need to be recharged when you reuse the unit.

What If I Want to Keep My Lighting Up for the Winter?
During the winter months, if you choose to leave the lighting or decorative unit installed - it is NOT a problem. You may leave your lighting unit outside continually throughout the year. However, here are a few helpful hints to keep your lighting or decorative item at its optimal performance.
1. Keep the Solar Panel clear of Snow and/or Debris - this will allow the panel to continually charge during the day.
2. If there is a heavy snowfall, make sure you don't accidentally step, or shovel the solar units. You may either experience the loss of your product's performance, or your unit's parts may break. (Our Limited 1 Year Warranty does not cover misuse and accidental breakage).
3. The solar product may seem like it may not be working (ie. not lighting up). Keep in mind that the lighting unit must be exposed to sun for at least 6-8 hours for Optimal lighting times. If it does not receive that amount of charging time, it may last as long as it is capable of.
4. Try not to get the panel's circuit board wet for extended periods of time. (As with all electrical units, it may be adversely affected by this type of exposure). If you suspect that the circuit board has been affected by exposure to moisture, leave your solar units several days (in dry, sunny weather) - it may return to it's original working state.

Product Troubleshooting - Solar Speaker
Can My Transmitter Be Unplugged for My Speaker to Work?
The Transmitter for the speaker must be plugged in with the A/C adapter to function. Do no attempt to place batteries in the transmitter. Your speaker can be connected directly to your media device using available connectors to bypass using the wireless transmitter.
The Transmitter plugs into your portable media device's headphone jack. Make sure your frequency is also set to the same with the Wireless Speaker. (A or B).

My Sound is Soft On My Speaker, What Can I Do?
Turn up your source sound device to the maximum, (radio, iPod, CD player) before turning up the volume on your speaker. Then try turning up the volume on your Wireless speaker.
Try charging the Wireless Speaker, your batteries might be low.

How can you get such loud sound with only 7 AA batteries? (from manual)
We adapt a lot of methods to save power and also we use specially designed circuitry that wastes less energy than normal. We employ a smart energy efficient system that will help conserve the batteries and ensure that it lasts longer than other wireless speakers. We use methods such as high efficient class D amplifier, low power circuitry, smart energy system, specially designed sound chamber and energy conservation circuit design.

How long does it take to completely recharge outdoors with sunlight? (from manual)
It will depend on the quality and the strength of sunshine where you place your speaker for recharging. Usually, the recharging will be most efficient at around noon time when the sun is at its peak intensity. Exposing your system to a full day of sunlight (8-10) hours will recharge your batteries effectively.

Shall I always remember to pull out the plug of adapter is I am charging it using the DC adapter? (from manual)
It's not necessary. The interlligent circuit will stop recharging automatically when the battery is full, so you dont have to worry about over charging or damaging the batteries in the speaker. This goes the same if you are charging in the speaker using sunlight.

Can I attach and use more than one of GOLDEN SUN'S Solar wireless speaker at once? (from manual)
Absolutely, simply set all the speakers to the same channel as the transmitter base. This will cause the transmitter to send the same signal to all of the speakers in the area with the same channel setting.
Is there any difference between the MP3 setting and the DVD Setting on the transmitter base? (from manual)
Of course, the DVD setting on the transmitter is created to send a clearer signal meant for DVD or CDs to the speaker. This way, you will get a better sound representation of the DVD or CD. The MP3 setting is made to also send signal that is specific for MP3 music. Usually with MP3, they have different characteristics that are different from DVD and CDs, and are more digital in qualty. So the transmitter of the GOLDEN SUN solar speaker series will adjust to these characteristics and transfer a signal to the speaker that is meant for MP3 sound.

Can I really leave my speaker outside? (from manual)
Yes, but always be cautious. Our speaker is designed to be weather proof (IP44) and also to withstand some degree of water. However, like all electronics it is advised that too much water (ex. dropping into a water source) can cause damage to the speaker. GOLDEN SUN has tried its best to make sure that the speaker can withstand as much water as possible. It is recommended that you do not expose your speaker to excessive amount of water to ensure the life of the speaker. The speaker is also resistant to dirt, sand, dust and other particles.
-
The Service centre warns against leaving your solar speaker outdoors during adverse weather such as thunder/rain storms and severe windy weather. Please check your local forecasts for more information on weather conditions in your area. Misuse resulting in damage of the unit is not covered under warranty.

Will my batteries recharge even when I am listening to music in the sun? (from manual)
Yes, but the charging capabilities of the solar panel will not be as effective as when the machine is totally powered off. Since you will be using energy when you listen to your speaker, the batteries will be charging and losing energy at the same time, however, the energy lost to producing sound will be less than when it is charging, so the net effect is a positive charge on your speaker batteries.
Can I replace the batteries inside the speaker once the batteries have died out? (from manual)
Yes, you may replace them using any normal AA rechargeable batteries but solar batteries (lower energy output) are recommended due to the charging system. The batteries we include should last for up to 18months of continuous recharge and use. However, if you so have to replace them, you may find these batteries at your local retailers which offer them.
-
The limited warranty for all our solar products do not cover replacement batteries due to it's disposable nature. Please be advised.
